The History of Art & Architecture department is located in the List Art Center, which also houses the Visual Arts Department and the David Winton Bell Gallery.

List Art CenterThe build of List Art Center was completed in 1971, funded with a donation from Albert and Vera List, philanthropists and private art collectors. It was designed by the American architect Philip Johnson (1906-2005), best known for his Modernist architecture such as The Glass House in Canaan, Connecticut.

The List Art Center is located near Brown’s Van Wickle Gates on College Street, close to Rhode Island School of Design and the Providence Athenaeum.

Hours

List Art Center is open from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm during the academic year, and 9:00 am to 3:30 pm during the summer. Please contact Nancy_Safian@brown.edu to schedule a tour of the building. You can also visit us on Facebook and Instagram.
