 Sheila Bonde, Professor of History of Art and Architecture recently received a Richard B. Salomon Faculty Research Award for The Sensory Monastery, a new and intentionally innovative project that engages with the sensory experiences of monasticism across time. It will focus on the abbey of Saint-Jean-des-Vignes in France, using Sant-Jean as a case study for aspects of the phenomenological, that were typical of medieval and early modern monastic life.
