Hosted by the Program in Early Cultures, at Petteruti Lounge, this panel is chaired by Tamara Chin (Comparative Literature) and, in addition to Rodríguez, features Amy Russell (Classics) and Parker VanValkenburgh (Anthropology). Together with the audience, the speakers will analyze the architecture of marginal places within early empires, as a means of exploring how imperial power relations are shaped and contested through built form.

Professors Rodríguez, Russel, and VanValkenburgh have provided recent essays, which the audience is invited to read in advance to enable a lively dialogue. Furthermore, the Program in Early Cultures will provide dinner at Flatbread following the roundtable (RSVP required). To receive the articles and RSVP for dinner, complete the event’s registration form

The Department of the History of Art and Architecture wishes Professor Rodríguez the best of luck, and hope to see you at Petteruti Lounge.
