For her seminar on water sanctuaries in the ancient Mediterranean (HIAA 1309, Sacred Waters of the Ancient World), which is also the topic of her second book, Professor Rodríguez invited several guest speakers who contributed to the class by showcasing their research on the topic. A particularly fun visit was that by Dr. Mattia Bischeri, one of the Italian archaeologists working on the excavations at San Casciano dei Bagni.
This project is producing some of the most exciting archaeological finds of the past decades and include a unique corpus of bronze figures that have been preserved in exceptional conditions. Dr. Bischeri updated the class on the most recent discoveries at the site, including impressive bronze votives, a large number of coins as well as petrified eggs and pinecones.
