Congratulations to HIAA Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow Celia Rodríguez Tejuca, who was recently one of three scholars to receive awards from the Latin American Studies Association (LASA) Colonial section. Her dissertation From the Ground Up: Picturing Scientific Knowledge in the Late Eighteenth-Century Spanish Americas, received an Honorable Mention for this esteemed award.
LASA is the largest professional association for scholars and institutions engaged in the study of Latin America, and the award recognizes dissertations in the field of Latin American colonial studies written in either Spanish or English. It is awarded every three years, and this cycle considered dissertations defended between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2025.
Congratulations, Celia!
