Two discussions on statues and monuments feature HIAA faculty

Recent movements by Black and Indigenous activists have highlighted the link between many modern monuments, colonialism, and white supremacy. Two upcoming conversations at Brown will feature conversations about this topic.

Visiting HIAA affiliated faculty in art history, RenĂ©e Ater, will participate in a conversation, "Monuments, Murals, and Movements: Reimagining the Art of Social Justice" presented  by the Centering Race Consortium, a collaboration between the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America at Brown University, the Center for Comparative Studies in Race & Ethnicity at Stanford University, the Center for the Study of Race, Politics and Culture at the University of Chicago, and the Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration at Yale University.
