"Politics and Architecture:" Dietrich Neumann opened an intervention and exhibition at Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona Pavilion (1929/1986) in Barcelona, Spain on Saturday, November 11. The installation includes the return of the original inscription, which had long been suppressed out of political reasons, and the hoisting of a new flag, designed by Dietrich Neumann, that thematizes the famous "Flag Dispute" during the Weimar Republic, which was carried out right in front of the pavilion with both the conservative, outlawed flag of the old Empire and the new flag of Weimar's democracy on display.
The installation and exhibition questions long held beliefs about the building as a representation of progressive, democratic forces and an endorsement of modern architecture.
