Professor Anthony Bogues and Graduate Student Yannick Etoundi Premiere Documentary, "Unfinished Conversations"

Professor Anthony Bogues and Graduate student Yannick Etoundi premiere documentary, "Unfinished Conversations," in accompaniment of the exhibition "In Slavery's Wake" at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

The "Unfinished Conversations Series Project" (UC Project) is an oral history archive on the global legacies of slavery and colonialism, overseen by the Ruth J. Simmons Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice and the Brown University Hay Library. The project emerged from a 10-year global collaboration between a host of curators from leading institutions.

This collaboration gave way to the exhibition "In Slavery's Wake: Making Black Freedom in the World," which opened at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture last Thursday. HIAA graduate student Yannick Etoundi worked as a researcher on the project for two years under the guidance of Asa Messer Professor of Humanities and Critical Theory, History of Art and Architecture, Africana Studies, and Simmons Center Director, Anthony Bogues. Bogues initiated the project and has served as one of the lead curators, organizers, and editors of the exhibition and catalog.

Etoundi served as the project manager, researcher, and associate editor for a documentary on the UC Project, which premiered at the Smithsonian Museum this month.
